Myth: Trafficking only happens when someone is transported elsewhere.
Truth: A youth can be trafficked without ever leaving their home.
Myth: Traffickers are always strangers.
Truth: Exploiters are often acquaintances, romantic partners, family members, or trusted adults.
If a youth is in immediate danger, call 9-1-1 immediately. If you suspect abuse or exploitation in Shasta County, contact local authorities or the National Human Trafficking Hotline.
